Classic car Season lifts off in Maastricht, Netherlands
The 2017 classic car season is now officially opened. It is a good tradition that the Interclassics Maastricht is the first major classic car show of the year. After the succesful 2nd edition of the Interclassics Brussel just some months ago, now all the eyes in the classic car world were directed towards the MECC venue in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Major theme this year was the 70 th birthday of Ferrari.
Co-operation with Ferrari Club Netherlands
In co-operation with the Ferrari Club Netherlands, the Interclassics Maastricht had no less than 20 Ferrari’s on display. Among them a 1960 Ferrari 250GT SWB Berlinetta Competitione, a Ferrari 166 MM and a Ferrari F40. The Louwman Museum borrowed the ex Prince Bernhard of Neterlands Ferrari 500 Superfast Speziale. The French manufacturer Facel Vega (founded in 1934 by Jean Daninos, bankrupt in 1964) got some special attention at the Interclassics 2017 too, with a special display. The Amical Facel Holland and Classic Job gathered approximately 10 original Facel Vega’s to be shown to the public.
A wealth of Porsches
When it comes to Porsches, exactly the same story as the previous edition of Interclassics : exuberance. That means a plenitude of Porsches among the dozens of exhibitors. There was literally a choice for anyone. From the fairly common Porsche 964 or mid-eighthies Porsche 911 over the late 60s to mid 70s Porsche 911s to the Porsche 933 that seems to occur more and more on the classic car shows. For the passionates about cars from before the flat-6 era : there were some Porsche 356s available too. Even the Porsches that were in the less wanted segment of the classic Porsche market so far, seem to win more and more attention of the classic car enthusiasts. More and more transaxle Porsches like the Porsche 924, Porsche 944 or the luxurious Porsche 928 are offered for sale. Those that really have a deeper wallet had a choice between 2 Porsche Carrera GT’s and even the brand new and limited (thus extremely rare and wanted) Porsche 911R could be yours.
And with over 26.000 visitors, nothing but smiling faces among both the exhibitors and the organisation. They already started the preparation for the the lustrum edition in 2018.
