1956 Porsche 550 A Spyder

Herbert Linge knows the Porsche 550 Spyder as he raced it back in the fifties. Egon Alber was one of the mechanics who travelled the world, wherever the Porsche 550 Spyder was racing to keep the car running. Neel Jani, one of the pilots of the Porsche 919 that  won the 2017 Le Mans 24H, drove the Porsche 550 Spyder with the LMP1 project manager Fritz Enzinger at the Ennstal Classic and tells us the car is fantastic to drive, even though it is complete different compared to the high technological Porsche 919 he uses to race. With a great smile on his face he told he considered driving 80km/h quite fast in the Porsche 550 Spyder, with brakes that were… remarkable.

1998 Porsche 911 GT1

It is always great fun to hear Norbert Singer tell stories he experienced during his many years with Porsche. When Walter Prinzer asked him how many Le Mans 24H races Norbert Singer visited, he made a quick count. ” From 1971 to now all the years minus probably 2″ was the reply of Norbert Singer, with a big grins on his face. The least you can tell this is a man with experience.

Next to his influences in the design and manufacturing of succesful race cars as the Porsche 935  or the early Porsche 911 RSR’s, Norbert Singer was the project manager behind the Porsche 911 GT1. And it was exactly a car like that that accompanied Norbert Singer on stage. Not the car that won the 1998 Le Mans 24H with Stefan Ortelli, Allan McNish and Laurent Aiello, but a recently restored customer racing car in Jever livery.
