1966 Porsche 906 Carrera 6
Hans Mezger is an engineer with a record of many years at Porsche. A few weeks after Hanz Mezger refused a job at the tractor plant of Porsche, Ferry Porsche contacted him again with the offer to start at the engine department. The flat-4 boxer engine of the Porsche 356 wasn’t strong enough anymore to compete in the races of that era, and Ferry Porsche wanted Hanz Mezger to look after the Fuhrmann Carrera engine to make it more powerful. That was the start of a long career at Porsche.
Hanz Mezger worked and designed on many engines, including the F1 engine used in the Porsche 804 or the powerful engine of the legendary Porsche 917 that won the Le Mans 24H overall for the 1st time in 1970. The iconic Porsche Carrera 6 was one of Hanz Mezger’s creation too. Despite his age, 87 right now, Hanz Mezger still has the passion for Porsche and is always willing to share some stories with the spectators.
2017 Porsche 911 GT2 RS
With the introduction of the 2016 Porsche 911R, Andreas Preuninger definitely puts his name on the Porsche personalities list that will always be remembered. The head of the Porsche GT department recently made another statement to the world. With the most powerful Porsche 911 of all time, his team managed to regain the world-record for road-legal sportscars at the Nürburgring.
Andreas Preuninger was clearly very proud about both the results of the team at the Nordschleife and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS. He encouraged the mechanic behind the wheel of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS at the Porsche Sound Nacht to rev the car in a way the audience could hear the backfiring.
