Preview of The Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction 2018

It is hard to say what the eye-catcher is between the Porsches that come up for auction in the Bonhams Quail Lodge Auction during the Monterey Car Week. There are some quite rare cars among them. However, there is no early racer as RM Sotheby’s or Gooding & Co has them.

The rarest of the cars that’s of interest for us Porsche fans , is without any doubt the 2009 RUF CTR3. Just 1,562 miles appear on the odometer at the time of cataloging and serve as good evidence to the sparse use of this vehicle over the past 9 years. With a production number of less than 30, combined with the low mileage and you won’t be surprised the 2009 RUF CTR3 will fetch the estimated prices.

2015 Porsche 918 Weissach Spyder

When Porsche introduced the Porsche 918 Spyder, the complete production was sold out before one could blink eyes. The Porsche 918 Spyder offered by Bonhams at the Quail Lodge Auction is one of approximately 300 delivered to the USA. In addition to a special wishes custom interior, the car is highly optioned with the most notable additions being the ultra-desirable Weissach package. So far the car has only 8000 miles on the odometer, and is in a pristine condition.

1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2

The 1963 Porsche 356 Carrera 2 is a car you won’t see that often on the streets. And this particular one is one of just 27 delivered with sunroof, making it extremely rare. A car like this would easily fetch  $750.000 just a few years ago. However, the boom is over and unless some surprises we guess the car will not sell north of the highest expectation. On the other hand, you never know at auctions. And auctions during the Monterey Car Week brought us more surprises the last few years.
