Schloss Bensberg 2014

Bensberg35The Schloss Bensberg Classics event is an event hard to compare to any others. Not only was this year’s edition only the 6th, it is somewhat different compared to other classic car events too. The organization holds the tagline ‘Very Important Cars only’ as a strict rule. This means you won’t see very common cars, on the contrary. Many of them are one-off’s, which makes the visit to see just of or 2 cars even worthwhile, not to mention you get lots of exclusive cars and the breathtaking beautiful premises as a surplus.

The event consists on the one hand of a tour crossing the surrounding region, on the other hand a FIVA A-rated concours d’elegance, with some prominent people serving as jury members. his year, Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen chairs the panel, assisted by others like Jacky Ickx and Lewandowski. Despite the youth of the concours d’elegance, it’s already part of the Louis Vuitton Classic Concours Award circle, an award that’s been given to the ‘Best of Show’ of one of the most famous concours d’elegances worldwide. This means Schloss Bensberg Concours d’elegance is part of a group of events, including the renowned Villa d’Este in Italy and Pebble Beach in California, USA.

One of the attractions for Porsche aficionados like us, was the Berlin-Rome Porsche, which can be considered as the predecessor of the Porsche 356. It was a 1955 Porsche 356 pre-A Speedster that took 2 prices : Heavenly Icons – Rare Convertibles (Postwar) and the Best of Show by the public.

Keep in mind : the 7th Schloss Bensberg Classics, 17–19 July 2015.
