The last of the evolution
Owning a vintage Porsche 911 is a dream many have from their early childhood. The last few years the prices of early Porsches rose to the sky. 10 years ago, nobody could have foreseen a price jump like this and we would have declared the prices of today as totally nuts and insane. One of the most accessible and affordable vintage Porsches nowadays is the 3.2 Carrera Version, the last Porsche that carries the 911 designation.
Tony Corlett, secretary of the 911 3.2 Register of the Porsche Club of Great-Brittain, collected a huge amount of information on this particular Porsche 911 model, and gathered it in this wonderfull book.
It is a complete enthusiast’s guide to the model and it covers the complete production range (1984 to 1989) and all the different models (Coupe, Targa, Cabriolet, Sport, Speedster, Club Sport, ..) including the the RUF CTR “yellow bird”. I guess there’s no need to say that any Porsche enthusiast welcomes a book like this and will enjoy it to the full extent.
In the different chapters, the author describes the complete evolution, including the design, production and engineering. Each chapter is documented with lots of detail and superb pictures. When needed, charts and diagrams are used to clearify the written words.
The enthusiasts that are fond of numbers and statistics, will find their thing in the chapters where the chassis numbers are explained, the factory prices from back then, the official Porsche 911 Carrera Option lists and the list with factory colours. To complete the book, there’s a technical overview of the Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera with all technical date, together with the chassisnumbers of the cars, together with the correct engine and gearbox type for that chassisnumber.
No matter if you own a Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera, or you’re looking for one, this book is extremely useful as a research tool for the purist, or just as a pleasant and interesting read for the others.
