Dr. Michael Leiters to become Porsche’s new CEO in 2026

Dr. Michael Leiters

A major leadership change is on the horizon for Porsche. The Supervisory Board of Porsche AG has announced that Dr. Michael Leiters will take over as CEO of Porsche AG, effective January 1, 2026. He will succeed Dr. Oliver Blume, who has led Porsche through an extraordinary decade and will continue serving as CEO of the Volkswagen Group.

A decade of success under Oliver Blume

For Porsche fans around the world, the name Oliver Blume is synonymous with progress, precision, and passion. Since taking over as CEO in 2015, Blume has overseen some of the brand’s most significant milestones — including the historic IPO of Porsche AG, several record financial years, expansion into new international markets, and unforgettable motorsport triumphs that strengthened Porsche’s legendary status on and off the track.

Under his leadership, Porsche entered a new era of performance and innovation. From electrification milestones like the Taycan to continued success with icons like the 911 and Cayenne, Blume guided the company through massive shifts in the global automotive landscape. As he steps down, he leaves behind a brand that is both deeply rooted in its heritage and boldly facing the future.

Blume shared his perspective on the transition:
“After ten years of responsibility for Porsche AG, I have decided to hand over my duties to my successor at the end of the year in the interests of Volkswagen Group. I have had the privilege of developing a great company with a fantastic team. I am delighted that Michael Leiters, an experienced professional in the sports car business, is taking on this role. He and the new management team have my full confidence.”

The return of a Porsche veteran

For true Porsche enthusiasts, Dr. Michael Leiters is not an unfamiliar name. Before holding high-profile leadership positions at Ferrari (as Chief Technology Officer) and McLaren Automotive (as CEO), Leiters spent more than 13 years at Porsche, where he played a key role in developing the Porsche Macan and Cayenne model lines.

Now, Leiters returns to Zuffenhausen — this time to lead the brand into its next chapter. Known for his deep technical expertise and forward-thinking leadership, Leiters brings a wealth of experience from the performance and luxury car world.

Dr. Wolfgang Porsche, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, expressed strong confidence in Leiters:
“Dr. Michael Leiters has decades of experience in the automotive industry. His leadership style and in-depth expertise are ideal prerequisites for successfully chairing the Executive Board of Porsche AG. He and the entire Executive Board team enjoy the full confidence of the Supervisory Board in overcoming the current challenges.”

Looking ahead

As global markets evolve — particularly in the U.S. and China, Porsche’s largest regions — the company is positioning itself for the future with a more flexible drivetrain strategy, refined product lineup, and robust cost structure. With Leiters stepping in as CEO, Porsche fans can look forward to a new era that blends cutting-edge innovation with the timeless driving emotion we all associate with the brand.

The coming years promise to be exciting ones for Porsche lovers everywhere — and at Love for Porsche, we’ll be following every development closely.
