Reims is the capital of the Champagne region in France. Most people immediately think of a sparkling glass of champagne when they think of Reims. Pommery, Veuve-Cliquout, Taittinger, and Ruinart (to name just a few) are brands that radiate luxury. And from champagne to cars, it’s a short route. Pilots celebrating victories after a race spraying large bottles of champagne, or a brand like Ruinart that is a sponsor of classic car events such as the Zoute GP in Belgium. Obviously, a city such as Reims should have a classic car event too. And they have, and in 2023 it was even the 35th edition of the Reims Salon Champenois du Véhicule de Collection.
About 450 exhibitors filled the “Parc des Expositions’ and the parking outdoors. The classic car show in Reims is best known for its swap meet, where you can dive into thousands of parts, bits, and pieces. Memorabilia and literature are among the 2nd most looked for things in Reims. And even though they are, obviously, mainly directed to the French market, you never know what gem you might find.
Reims usually is not the biggest market when it comes to Porsches. Our colleague Wilfried Geerts spotted a few, but despite the absence of cars from Zuffenhausen, he always returns home with a big smile and looks forward to the next edition.
