Peter Auto, the organization behind world-class events like Le Mans Classic and Tour Auto Optic 2000. celebrated the return to French soil of the Concours d’Elégance. This great national tradition dating from the 20s was revived on Sunday in the Le Nôtre gardens in the Château in Chantilly. On the program was a parade of 10 concept cars from manufacturers accompanied by models dressed by the same number of haute couture houses. About 100 cars from the world’s best and largest collections formed the concours d’etat. Another 500 cars entered in the Clubs Grand-Prix.
No less than 10.000 visitors found their way to the Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille to the relief of the organisation, as it is always a risk to start another event. The success of this first edition assures it’s continuation as Peter Auto already announced a second edition of this event the first weekend of September 2015.
For a Porsche aficionado, without any doubt the star of the show was the recently restored 1950 Porsche 356, in the same ownership since 1969. The car is meticulously restored, with a stunning accuracy for historic details. Too bad, the car wasn’t ready in time to be part of the Concours d’Elegance.
A 1964 Porsche 904 Carrera GTS, won the Special First price in the Endurance – Pre-76 Central Engine Sportscars – Radio Classique Prize. A great reward for the car designed by Ferdinand ‘Butzi’ Porsche who said he finally designed a car exactly the way he thought a car should be.
Happy faces all over the place. Spectators had a great weekend enjoying lots of marvelous cars on a stunning historic location, partners of the event and organisation smiling because of the number of positive reactions. No reason not to continue this success. We see each other 1st weekend of September 2015
