70th anniversary party for Ferrari and Walter Röhrl
2 legends celebrate 70th anniversary in 2017. Over the globe, it won’t be easy to find a concours d’elegance where the 70 years of Ferrari are not celebrated. Nothing else in Jüchen at the Classic Days Schloss Dyck 2017. On the peninsula near the castle of Schloss Dyck, Ferraris from all ages were gathered. Spectacular. That’s the least one can say.
Walter Röhrl, the German icon of Rally celebrates his 70th anniversary this year too. And Classic Days Schloss Dyck brought some spectacular cars together that Walter Röhrl used to drive in his career. Everybody knows the Audi Quattro Sport that Walter Röhrl drove in a spectacular way over narrow mountain roads. Walter Röhrl had no car for the 1981 World Championship Rally season.

That’s when Porsche jumped in and gave a Porsche 924 GTS Rally to him. Walter Röhrl thanked Porsche with 3 victories. The Porsche 924 GTP Le Mans can be seen as a prototype for the Porsche 944. Both Walter Röhrl and Jurgen Barth shared the wheel of the car at the 1982 Le Mans 24H with just one goal : finish the race. However, they surpassed the expectations with a 7th overall and a GTP Class victory.
Coys Auction and concours d’elegance
Despite the fact that the Classic Days Schloss Dyck undergo hardly changes over the years, the last thing you can say about the event is that it gets boring. On the contrary, since last year the Coys Auction House has an auction of classic cars now for the 2nd consecutive time on Saturday. We brought a report on the cars crossing the block at the Coys Auction at the Classic Days earlier. On the peninsula near the castle is a concours d’elegance that has some great cars, including the iconic ducktailed 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS.

Demonstration Runs
Both Saturday and Sunday the audience can witness demonstration runs of different types of cars. This year the eyecatcher when it comes to Porsche was the Porsche 550-089. This particular car is used by dutch clothing label State-of-Art in several marketing campaigns. When the clothing manufacturer bought the rights to the Mille Miglia Logo, he even entered the 3 Porsche 550 Spyders of his personal colletion in the Mille Miglia, with drivers like Gijs van Lennep or Jan Lammers at the wheel. More Porsches with several Porsche Pre A cars and the Porsche 911S that Eberhard Mahle drove in the 1968 German Hill Climb Championship.
