Biography Hans-Peter Porsche
Hans-Peter Porsche was born in Stuttgart and was one of the 4 sons of Ferry Porsche. Just as the rest of the family, Hans-Peter Porsche spent most of his childhood in Austria. It is needless to say, that, just as the rest of his family, Hans-Peter Porsche has a strong connection with the automotive world. After his childhood, Hans-Peter Porsche studied at the Mechanical Engineering School (Maschinenbauschule) in Salzburg, Austria.
At the age of 24, after he finished his studies as an engineer, Hans-Peter Porsche joined the family company. In his first position, he was an assistant to the management of Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche KG. Just one year later, in 1965, Hans-Peter Porsche became the head of the production, purchasing, inspection and construction in the family company. In 1971, he leaves the company. Later he joined the Porsche design company of his brother Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, the father of the Porsche 911.
Collecting has always been a passion for Hans-Peter Porsche. After his son Peter Daniel was born in the late 1970s, he discovered the world of model railroads – and finally a fascination with tin toys. His vision of sharing his extraordinary treasures with the world became reality at the Traumwerk in Anger, southern Bavaria.
In 2017, the Traumwerk Museum hosted the International Porsche Collectors Day. Next to a huge collection of tin toys, the railroad room is definitely worth a visit. And of course, there are quite some cars from the personal collection of Hans-Peter Porsche on display in the museum. That includes an early Porsche 356, a Porsche 550 Spyder, a Porsche 904 to name just a few.
