Biography Jean-Pierre Gaban
The motorsports career of Jean-Pierra Gaban starts in 1962 (Tour de France) and stops in 1977 (6 Hours of Hockenheim). Most of his career Jean-Pierre Gaban is faithful to his favorite car : Porsche. Jean-Pierre Gaban becomes the Hill Climb Champion in 1966 after victories in Fléron, La Roche, Alle-sur-Semois, Houyet and Namur la Citadelle. That same year, Jean-Pierra Gaban was the Vice Champion in the Belgian Championship of touring cars after a victory in the GP de Frontières in Chimay.
In 1966, Jean-Pierra Gaban finishes 2nd in the Grand National in Belgium in a Porsche 904 GTS. The most important victory of Jean-Pierre Gaban is the overal victory in the 1967 Spa 24H with Noel ‘Pedro’ Van Assche in a Porsche 911. That’s probably one of his biggest victories too. Jean-Pierre Gaban participates 4 times in the Le Mans 24H , where he wins the GT class in 1968.
After the active race career of Jean-Pierre Gaban, he makes himself reputed as a Porsche 911 mechanic and prepares them professionaly for rallies. In 1980 a Porsche 911 prepared by him, wins the Rally of the Condroz. Mark Duez and Patrick Snijers win the Belgian Rally Championship in 1982, 1983 and 1984, all in Jean-Pierre Gaban’s prepared Porsche 911s. Next to these Belgian Championships titles, numerous international victories are written on the account of his cars. One of the flagships in the stable of Jean-Pierre Gaban was the ultra-rare Porsche 911 SCRS. A Belgian collector, who owns the ex Gaban Porsche 911 SCRS celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Porsche 911 SCRS in 2009 at the circuit of Abbeville in France.
Jean-Pierre Gaban’s son, Pascal Gaban becomes world champion rally for production cars in 1988.
