Bob Ingram, former CEO of Glaxosmithkline, was introduced to Porsche in 1971 when a friend gave him a ride in his Porsche 911. Bob Ingram was immediately convinced about Porsche. However it took him aonther 20 years to buy his first Porsche, a Porsche 964 Carrera 4 Convertible. What seems to be a rather innocent acquirement, soon turned out to become passion. It was the start of the famous Ingram Collection : one of the best Porsche collections in the world with over 3 dozens of Porsches of all ages. Many of these cars are very collectible and are the rarest of the rare.
Randy Leffingwel, renowned photographer and Porsche historian, Cam Ingram, co-founder of Road Scholars and Michael Furman joined forces to produce a masterpiece about some of the most iconic and most important cars that ever rolled out of the Porsche factory in Zuffenhausen.
As the title of the book declares, building up a collection brings you into some of the most unexpected places. You meet people you didn’t expect to meet up and sometimes you discover a car you didn’t expect too.
Porsche Unexpected explains the different pittfalls Bob Ingram encountered over the years on his hunt to fulfill his dreams : building a collection that was unequal to any other. The stories may be a good lesson to other collectors. After all, thousands and thousands of hours of research to put up the ultimate Porsche Collection of Bob Ingram learned him a lot, and that knowledge is shared in Porsche Unexpected.
Next to the valuable information on collecting, restoring and preserving collection cars, another part of the book is reserved to the presentation of the cars from the Ingram Collection. Randy Leffingwel and Michael Fuhrman did an extremely good job. The book is
filled with dozens and dozens of high quality pictures, very detailed and some of them absolute eye-candy.
No doubt about it, this is a marvelous book that no Porschephile would want to miss on his bookshelves
