Little over 2 months ago, the news arrived that Gooding & Co auction house would offer some extra ordinary Porsches at the Amelia Island auction. What’s the big news on that ? Aren’t there some great Porsches going under the hammer every year at every major auction? Well, this time the news was a little different. It was Jerry Seinfeld that was selling some of his cars. First news was that he was offering 3 Porsches, the Porsche 550 Spyder, a Porsche 356 Carrera GS/GT Speedster and the Peter Revson 3.0 liter IROC RSR.
The astonishment only got bigger when later the news started dropping in that the New York based comedian was parting out no less than 16 Porsches out of his amazing collection. Why would a collector as Jerry Seinfeld want to sell some of his cars, you probably think. Seinfeld’s only comment is that he never bought a car as an investment, He doesn’t even consider himself a collector, but just a ‘car lover’ and sometimes he thinks it is time someone else can enjoy the cars.
To give you an impression : the 16 Porsches of Jerry Seinfeld being auction at Amelia Island have a combined estimated value of 25.200.000 USD. And that’s the low estimate without commission.
