Willhoit Restorations Open House is definitely one of the highlights during the LA Lit and Toy Show weekend. Hundreds of Porsche aficionados head 50 miles south of LAX to go visit the Willhoit Restorations workshop in Long Beach. From early in the morning, there’s a coming and going of people, many of them in a classic Porsche, to enjoy the  endless hospitality of John Willhoit.

As usual Willhoit had some amazing cars on display. Some of them customer cars who are undergoing a nut ant bolt restoration by the Willhoit Restorations Crew, some of them for sale. A yellow 1973 Porsche Carrera RS homologation model, 1 of only 17, found a new owner. The car’s new home was an important collection in Europe.

On the opposite side of the road, Willhoit always has a Dyno Test installed, and it is an amazing sight when you see how many HP and torque some of the classic Porsches have.  The sound of the revving engines is deafening by moments, but that’s part of the game, and all enjoy the flat4 and flat6 engines roar and spit fire.

At lunch time, John Willhoit invites all visitors for a tasty German style bratwurst, bringing the Porsche atmosphere even to a higher level. As usual nothing but lucky faces in Long Beach.
