Porsche has once again started the IMSA season in commanding style, with Porsche Penske Motorsport claiming overall victory at the 2026 24 Hours of Daytona. The win marks the team’s third consecutive triumph at the legendary endurance race, further cementing Porsche’s dominance at one of the sport’s most prestigious events.

Control throughout the race

From the opening hours, Porsche established itself at the front of the field. Both factory-entered Porsche 963 cars showed strong pace and consistency, running among the leaders and keeping pressure on their competitors. As the race unfolded, strategy, precision and reliability played a crucial role. Porsche Penske Motorsport executed a near-flawless race, positioning the cars perfectly heading into the decisive final hours.

A tense fight to the finish

The No. 7 Porsche 963 ultimately secured the victory after a dramatic closing stint. The winning driver line-up of Felipe Nasr, Julien Andlauer and Laurin Heinrich delivered a composed performance across all 24 hours. In the final laps, Nasr faced intense pressure from a chasing rival but managed to hold the lead, crossing the finish line with only a small margin. The close finish highlighted the competitiveness of this year’s race and the level of execution required to secure victory.

Challenges for the sister car

The No. 6 Porsche 963 also demonstrated strong potential throughout the race, running near the front and contributing to the team’s overall dominance. However, issues in the later stages prevented it from contending for the win. Despite this setback, the performance of both cars confirmed the strength and reliability of the Porsche Penske Motorsport package.

Extending a historic record

With this latest success, Porsche adds another chapter to its remarkable history at Daytona. The brand continues to hold the record for the most overall victories at the event, underlining its long-standing expertise in endurance racing. For Porsche Penske Motorsport, achieving three consecutive wins at Daytona is a significant milestone and a clear statement of intent for the season ahead.

A strong start to the season

The victory provides Porsche with the perfect launch into the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Beyond the result itself, the race showcased the performance, consistency and teamwork behind the Porsche 963 program. With momentum firmly on its side, Porsche heads into the rest of the season as a leading force, aiming to build on this success and continue its winning streak.
