One of the major classic car shows in Belgium is the Ciney RétroMoteur. Usually this event takes place in the Whitsun weekend. This year however, for obvious reasons, the show only took place the first weekend of October. Probably the Interclassics Brussels and Antwerp Classic Car show are better known shows. However, Ciney RétroMoteur used to be the largest antique car and motorcycle exchange in Belgium. Under normal circumstances, it gathers more than 500 exhibitors on 35.000m² of exhibition space. Ciney RétroMoteuyr is a reference for all lovers of spare parts, miniatures, accessories, documentation,… But also for the amateurs of classic cars. A parking lot of more than 1500 places is reserved only for visitors coming to this event with their classic car.
2020 however is a completely different year. Shows are cancelled or postponed. As told before, Ciney RétroMoteur could not take place in the usual weekend of the year. And that makes it more difficult to attract the same number of exhibitors. And on top of that, it seemed that the organization lacked to have enough marketing. Quite some classic car enthusiasts didn’t even know about the new dates. Combine those 2 factors, and the results is a show with less exhibitors, and far less visitors.
Nevertheless, those that did visit Ciney RétroMoteur had a great day. As usual they had a great choice in memorabilia, parts, literature and so on. Some of them went home with real treasures. Let’s hope 2021 will have a Ciney RétroMoteur as we’ve seen them in the past before. Mark May 22 – May 25 2021 in your agenda. You won’t regret visiting.
