Looking back at Ghent Collection Cars

Just 2 weeks ago, I visited what I consider the best classic car show in the world. Yes, that’s how I look back at the Paris Retromobile show. Last weekend, the annual Ghent Collection Cars fair for classic cars took place at the Flanders Expo in Ghent. No need to tell both shows can’t be compared at all ,with worldwide renowned dealers exhibiting in Paris. Oviously Ghent Collection Cars can’t compete with that. But does that mean that a visit to the show wasn’t worth it ? Of course not.

Approximately 300 cars were exhibited by over 150 exhibitors in 3 sold-out halls of Flanders Expo. One of the 3 halls was mainly for exhibitors selling tools, literature and small memorabilia. What did fail at Ghent Collection Cars were the exhibitors that were selling parts. An isn’t that for quite a few of the visitors one of the main goals of a visit to a classic car show? Or did the internet really make the parts market at fairs obsolete?

The firm GRC Sport presented a replica Martini Porsche RSR from 1976 next to a replica of the famous Luigi BMW 3.5 CSL from 1977.
