To many folks on the continent, the Silverstone Classic is rather unknown. Is it because of the channel that has to be crossed? Are they scared for traveling on the left lane of the road in their cars? Is it the UK weather that frightens people? Who knows? The only thing we know is that those that never considered visiting the event are definitely wrong.

The annual 3 day event celebrate it’s 25th anniversary this year. And honestly, don’t we all like to go to anniversary parties? Particularly when the party is a classic car event at a legendary race-track? I can hardly imagine a reason good enough not to take part.

In celebration of the event’s momentous milestone, a special Silver Sunday Parade brought together more than 200 silver cars from Land Rovers to Lexus’, MGs to Mercedes and Saabs to Ssangyongs – the Classic’s official car partner – on the hallowed Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit.

The event started on Friday with a typical Britain weather, that means clouds and rain. However, we all know British people are the most passionate petrol-heads of all. And that means thousands of visitors didn’t care about the weather, and watched 14 sessions of spectacular races. Luckily for both organization, visitors and pilots, Saturday the weather was much better. Even the son was present making it a wonderful day that was ended with a spectacular gig of the rock-band Status Quo, who’s band members can be considered oldtimers themselves. Sunday back to the rainy and cloudy weather unfortunately.

You may all know that the UK has a large crowd of Porsche aficionados. And on the occasion of the 25th Silverstone Classic, Porsche Great-Britain didn’t spare any efforts to fulfill the needs of the Porsche enthusiasts by bringing together an amazing display of cars : Porsche 550 Spyder, a Porsche Cayman GT4, a Porsche 904, a Porsche 917, the new Porsche 911 Targa, a Porsche 959 Dakar, a split-window Porsche 356, a Porsche 919. Next to that the Porsche Club Great-Britain had a large tent erected to serve as a host for their members. Dozens and dozens of amazing cars of any age : from the Porsche 356 over early Porsche 911’s of any ages, Porsches 914 and all of the transaxle models like the Porsche 924 and 944. Spectacular , thats the only word to describe.

Just one advise : next year, don’t hesitate. Just book a hotel and make sure you are one the many to enjoy a superb weekend at Silverstone.
