As this was the sixth edition of Spa Classic by Peter Auto, this event might be considered quite new. Not exactly what you would think when you visited the event and spent some hours in the pit lane or in the paddocks. The Peter Auto organization definitely knows how to entertain the thousands of visitors. Even though there was a date conflict with the Monaco Historic event, the full grids proved that Spa Classic has become an event not to be missed.
The eight grids of the Spa Classic were the grids everybody’s who’s into classic racing knows about. These are the grids that use to be on the track at a Peter Auto Event. Probably the best known, and most spectacular are the 2 Classic Endurance Racing grids, the Sixties Endurance, the Trofeo Nastro Rosso with mainly Italian sportscars on the track and the fabulous and legendary Group C racing.
For us Porsche fans, there’s always some great eye candy on the track with great Porsches. The Classic Endurance Race I even had some Porsche 908s and the obvious Porsche 911 RSR’s and RSs. The iconic Porsche 934 and Porsche 935s that used to run in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Meistershaft in the eighties and at different tracks around the globe, came at the start in the Classic Endurance Race II. In the Group C we could admire the cars that dominated years and years of endurance racing : the Porsche 962 and Porsche 956.
Weather conditions weren’t exactly the best, but that didn’t keep the over 15.000 visitors away from the Spa race track to have an amazing weekend, stuffed with dozens of great cars. We’re looking forward to the 2017 edition
