The results of the 2022 Scottsdale Car Auctions

The first major car auctions of 2022 took place in the 2nd half of January in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 3 major auction houses (Bonhams, Gooding & Co, and RM Sotheby’s ) had a wide variety of Porsches crossing the block. From early Porsche 356 to quite recent Porsche 911s, from daily drivers to rare low-mileage gems: they offered cars for everyone’s choice in the Scottsdale car auctions. Recently, a low-mileage2005  Porsche Carrera GT sold for a staggering $1,920,000 on Bring a Trailer. No surprise, the collectors market kept an eye on the RM Sotheby’s auction. They had a similar Porsche Carrera GT with just over 5,500 miles on the counter for sale. The bidding stopped at $1,545,000 premium included.

Both Bonhams and RM Sotheby’s offered a 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S for sale. The bidding was most successful in the RM Sotheby’s auction where the car fetched $610,000, well over the estimate of $540,000. At Bonhams, the 1997 Porsche 911 Turbo S was estimated at a fairly modest $320,000. Bidding stopped at $467,000, rather high over the estimation. In the Gooding&Co auction, the bidding for the Porsche 356 Carrera 2 stopped surprisingly at $475,000. In my opinion, the Porsche 356 Carrera 2 is a car that deserves a higher price, and it looks like the seller has the same opinion. The car remained unsold.

Underneath, you can find what all the Porsches sold for in the auctions by Bonhams, Gooding&Co and RM Sotheby’s during the 2022 Scottsdale car auctions with a gallery containing the cars. Of course all your comments on the auctions are very welcome. Keep an eye on Love for Porsche, as we will bring you real soon the results of the Bonhams “Les Grandes Marques” Auction in Paris.
