Biography Dennis Aase
After service in Vietnam, Dennis Aase and his brother Dave decided they wanted a place to work on cars. Dave Aase worked at a Porsche agency body shop at the time. At an employee sale of a bunch of lien cars, the Aase brothers ended up buying a wrecked and abandoned Porsche 356. After a body shop bought some parts of that car, Dennis Aase and his brother knew they needed to get into the parts business. They got a wrecking license and started parting out Porsches in 1969. The brothers ran their business for years and dismantled thousands of Porsches. Nowadays, Ron Thomas has taken over the business and it still runs under the name “Aase Sales “.
Dennis Aase – Robery Kirby – John Hotchkiss – Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 Dennis Aase only started racing at a later age. In the early 1970s, the Aase brothers bought a 1967 Porsche 911S which they believed to be an ex-Rally of Monte Carlo participant. The car had stockers on the door, and all that sort of things. Dennis and Dan decided to make a club car out of it and run some POC races. Later it turned out not to be the best car, so they decided to go on the search for another chassis.
Another dealership, owned by Don Burns, had a Porsche 908 that he wanted to race. However, the car was beyond the technical capabilities of his team. After Burn’s mechanics ruined the engine after they set the cams, they wanted Dan Aase to repair the engine. Later Burns showed up at the Aase Brothers and said he needed a Porsche 911. In the end, the Aase brothers traded their Porsche 911 for a Porsche 908. Dennis Aase started racing the Porsche 908 in SCCA races

In 1974 he drove his Porsche 908/2 in the Can-Am Series. He finished 7th overall at Road Atlanta. Dennis Aase ended the season 8th overall in the championship. Aase competed on a regular base in IMSA through the late ’70s before signing to drive the potent BMW M-1 for the 1980 IMSA GTO season. He would win five races in the car throughout the 1980/1981 seasons.
Later Dennis Aase continued racing in several classes in IMSA, including the prestigious GTP class. He belonged to teams like Akin Motorsports, Moretti/MOMO, and the legendary Al Holbert into the ’80s. In 1983, Aase’s skills as a driver were rewarded with a ride in the Toyota factory team of Dan Gurney ’s All-American Racers.
