The results of the 2025 Bonhams Zoute Sale
Bonhams|Cars returned to Knokke-Heist for The Zoute Sale, held during the renowned Zoute Grand Prix—one of Europe’s premier automotive and lifestyle gatherings. This year’s edition, marking the auction’s 13th anniversary, drew exceptional attention from collectors and enthusiasts alike, underscoring its growing reputation as a highlight of the European auction calendar.
Taking place on October 12, the event delivered particularly strong results for Ferraris. More than 1,200 registered bidders from 36 countries participated, with over 1,000 attendees filling the elegant beachfront venue. The sale offered more than 100 lots, spanning fine automobilia, motorcycles, and collector cars, and concluded with a total of €16 million. With an 88.5 percent sell-through rate and 96 percent sold by value, the results reflected an atmosphere of keen competition and international enthusiasm.
Ferrari Leads the Charge
The undisputed star of the evening was the 1991 Ferrari F40 Coupé, which achieved an impressive €2,645,000. Close behind was the 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso from the distinguished Bernard Fornas collection. Finished in an elegant shade of Griggio and recently awarded the coveted Red Book certification by Ferrari Classiche, the Lusso changed hands for €1,380,000.
The Fornas collection as a whole—assembled by Bernard Fornas, former President and Chief Executive Officer of Cartier International—brought a combined total of €2,275,850. Its impeccable presentation and refined curation made it one of the most admired highlights of the event.
Other Highlights
Among the additional standout results was a 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 ‘Daytona’ Berlinetta, which sold for €603,750, and a 2021 Ford GT ‘66 Heritage Edition Coupé that achieved €598,000. A 1967 Aston Martin DB6 Volante—one of just 140 ‘Mark 1’ examples built—found a new owner for €402,500.
Classic SUVs also drew notable attention, reflecting their growing stature as collectible icons of design and lifestyle. The ex-Alain Delon 1976 Range Rover 3.5-litre from the Fornas collection achieved €120,750, while a 1979 Toyota BJ43 Land Cruiser, famously driven by Thierry Sabine and his team during the first Dakar Rally (then known as the Oasis-Paris-Dakar), sold for €115,000.
A Growing Tradition at the Zoute Grand Prix
Bonhams|Cars’ latest success at The Zoute Sale confirms its standing as a must-attend event for collectors who appreciate the artistry and legacy of motoring. With strong participation from across Europe and beyond, the sale once again demonstrated how the passion for classic and modern icons continues to thrive along Belgium’s North Sea coast.
