Even though the SLS Classic seems unknown to many, it truly is a classic. The SLS Classic was in its 58th edition this year. Participants took off in Luxembourg. A beautiful part over scenic and curvy roads brought them from Luxembourg to Brussels. The next day all cars had to reach Ghent. Not exactly a huge effort one would think, as both cities are just 50 km apart. However, nothing else was the truth. A ride of 350 kilometers on the narrow road made sure all competitors stayed sharp to reach the finish in Ghent without too many penalty points.

The Sport and Tour class participants arrive in time at the brand new Van der Valk hotel in Ghent for a delicious dinner and drinks in the truly spectacular rooftop bar on the 10th floor of the hotel. The Expert Class participants eat ‘on the road’ and are then treated to an evening leg of 120 race kilometers. Not an evening stretch to “tear up”, but a tough map reading stretch. Wilfried Geerts waited for the cars in Ghent and sent us the pictures.

On the last day of the SLS Rally, the roadbook brings the participants to Scheveningen in the Netherlands. Partially they drive the motorway, partially gravel roads and narrow concrete lanes are their part. In Scheveningen a fantastic finish waits on the Boulevard. And after the rally, everybody agreed that there was a good balance between “the race”,  good driving, and the pleasure to enjoy the surroundings. And of course not to forget, the comradery between all participants and the fun they had at the bar and restaurant.
