A preview of the auctions in Amelia Island

2019 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Weissach

In total 47 Porsches will cross the block during the next Amelia Island auctions at the 3 major auction houses.  We threw a look at the catalogs of the major auction houses to present you a preview of the Amelia Island auctions.

At Bonhams, 6 of them will try to seduce a bidder to take it home. Among these 6 cars, no real treasures can be found. Probably the rarest is the 1988 Porsche 944 Turbo Cup.

The ex Rothmans Porsche 944 is 1 of just 39 hand-built race cars. This car has had multiple podium spots during its race career. Displaying just shy of what is believed to be an original and correct 9K kilometers, the no. 8 Reebok car lives on as the vehicle to define the series.

And with an estimation in the range of $60K – $80K, this might be an opportunity to acquire a race car for an affordable price.

RM Sotheby’s has 17 Porsches in the catalog. The eye-catcher among them is the 1986 Porsche 959 Komfort. Only about 340 of Porsche’s first supercar were built. Just a handful of them are street-legal in California, and this is one of them. It is one of the cars upgraded by Bruce Canepa. Combine that with the fact that the car has only covered just under 6.000 miles, and you’ll understand there will probably heavy bidding on this one.

Further interesting cars are the 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS, 2019 Porsche 911 GT2RS Weissach and the 2019 Porsche 911 GT2RS Clubsport. Both the “Weissach” and the Clubsport edition of the  Porsche 911 GT2 RS  are never been used and is presented in factory-fresh condition.

Gooding & Co originally had 25 Porsches in the auction. However, one seller decided to withdraw his 2019 Porsche Cayman GT4 MR. That makes it a number of 24 Porsches in the auction, which is undoubtedly a good number. Quite uncommon is that 3 RUFs are being offered in the auction.

The 1998 RUF Turbo R is one of only 14 produced. What makes it even rarer is that this car comes with a 4WD, and that makes it unique.  The 2009 RUF CTR3 is another very rare bird with only 30 examples built. This particular one comes with the optional 750 HP engine. The RUF CTR3 has only 4600 miles from new. RUF only built 54 cars from the RUF RT12. The one offered in the auction has just 3200 miles on the counter from new. All of these models are described in detail in the RUF book, that we reviewed recently.

1961 Porsche 356 Beutler

Gooding offers another very rare car. Only 5 of the Porsche 356 Beutler were ever produced, Original owner of this special interest car was Hubert Brundage of Jacksonville, Florida. Readers with an interest in history and motorsport will know mr Brundage as the founder of the iconic Brumos Porsche dealership.
