Interclassics Brussels 2019

Porsches of all ages at Interclassics Brussels 2019 in the Brussels exposition halls

Interclassics Brussels 2019, in its fifth edition,  paid tribute to five of the most legendary car designers in history. A unique collection of classic cars designed by Pininfarina, Bertone, Zagato, Touring and Ghia were the highlight for many of the thousands of visitors. In addition to the main theme, the 100th anniversary of Bentley was en eye-catcher too. Unfortunately for us, Porsche enthusiasts, Carlo Abarth does nog belong the the most legendary car designers. And that meant, no Porsche 356 Carrera Abarth in the Brussels Expo halls.

Before even going in, we knew the Interclassics Brussels wouldn’t be as good as it was in 2019. Ofcourse the celebration of the 70th anniversary of Porsche last year at Interclassics Brussels was the main reason for that. But, we must admit : wherever you walked in the Brussels expo halls, there were plenty of Porsches on display. We spotted a wide variety of them. The price range of the cars looking for a new owner was quite diverse too. There were the transaxle Porsches for the fans with a smaller budget. Porsche 911s could be seen all over the place. And despite the decline in prices on the market, that seemed not always the truth in Brussels. On the other hand, a Porsche 964 RS that is offered for sale for 149.000 Euro might look like a bargain.

A very rare bird, but not a classic car

My personal favorite of the show however was not a classic car. At the Belgian division of the ACO, somewhat hidden, you could spot a great car in Martini liver : the Porsche 935, limited to 77 cars, that was presented to the public last year at the Porsche Rennsport Reunion at the Laguna Seca.  The owner only received his Porsche 935 just 2 weeks before the show. As far as we know, this car is the only Porsche 935 that ended up in Belgian hands. 2019-Interclassics-Brussels-31

The Interclassics Brussels, just as the Interclassics in Maastricht next January 2020, is not the place to be to find parts. Both shows are mainly focused on cars, ready to be driven. There is a small number of exhibitors that offer some literature and memorabilia. However don’t expect to find the true gems at these shows. On the other hand you never know, a treasure can popup everywhere.
