The Corona pandemic caused to come the world to a standstill for about 2 years. And now that the health crisis seems to slow down, that meant the world could take a restart. And just as in March 2022 the Retromobile in Paris retured, Techno Classica opened its doors again too.
General impression

Just as the Retromobile show in Paris, Techno Classica had to deal with a smaller number of exhibitors. And the impact of that was clearly visible on the number of visitors too. Yes, the Techno Classica was smaller than it used to be years ago. But shouldn’t we be blessed to be able to visit a show of that size again? We were glad to take the minor disadvantage of wearing a mouthmask for granted.
Absence of Porsche, VW and Mercedes

Usual eyecatchers at the Techno Classica Show in Essen are the halls taken by the VW Group (Porsche, Audi, VW, Seat) and Mercedes. Unfortunately, they decided not to send an official representation to Essen. Quite a pity for the visitors, as these brands always come up with a huge display. Under the current circumstances however, we understand they hesitated investing both huge amounts of time and money.
Yes, Techno Classica 2022 was a good show

After reading the first paragraphs of this article, you might start thinking wrong about the Techno Classica 2022. But despite the smaller number of exhibitors and an impacted atmosphere due to the smaller number of visitors, Techno Classica 2022 was nothing but a good show. I am not speaking for the exhibitors, as I don’t know about their sales figures.
Porsche 356 pre-A wealth
For a classic car fan however, few opportunites exist where you can indulge in the classic car as much as in Essen. Automobilia Ladenburg for example, had next to their usual memorabilia a fantastic display with no less than 3 extremely rare and restored to a pristine condition Porsche 356 Pre-A’s. Other exhibitors had more of these rare Porsches. Just the number of these early Porsches justified a visit to the show.

But that’s not all. Georg Konradsheim, author of the legendary RS book, had a fantastic stand, with no less than 3 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 RS for sale. Furthermore, you could see an extremely rare Porsche 968 Turbo RS ( see picture further above).
We advise you to sit down, and flip through the pictures the gallery underneath. That way you’ll have an impression of what the 2022 Techno Classica Essen had to offer you. I’m sure that will be enough to convince you to bring a visit next year too.
