Last Saturday, March 6th, the Hilton Hotel was invaded by near 2000 Porsche afficionados. The reason was very simple, the annual LA literature and toy show took place. The event seems to keep growing and growing, as there were more vendors, more visitors. If the trend continues, curious how crowded the 2 ballrooms in the Hilton Hotel will be.
The LA Literature and Toy show , which is the biggest show of his kind worldwide, brings all major Porsche literature collectors together. From all over the world, the early-birds pay 30$ entrance so they can enter the event’s place together with the vendors, to be certain not to miss that particular piece they’re looking for. And be sure there’s stuff for sale that is rare. This year I noticed at least 2 of the famous and real rare Porsche Gmund brochures. Prescott Kelly had no less than 2 original Porsche 550 Spyder manuals, one in German and one in English. Jim Perrin had some great posters once again, just as Tony Singer and Frank Barret.
Wayne Callaway had a table piled with rare toys like Distlers, JNF and other collectible miniatures.
Looking for parts ? No problem at all, as 2 ballrooms were completely filled up with all kinds of parts, literature, toys, collectibles , clothes.
Steve Heinrichs who’s organising the Silverade Race Car Classic, gave event posters to anyone asking for it.. for free.
The show attracted people from all over the world. Ofcourse mainly people from the USA, but Europe send its collectors too with people from Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Germany, Switzerland, Italy…
And for those who’re into famous people… i didn’t see him in person this year, but Jerry Seinfeld was there to experience the atmosphere, and try to find some stuff he still misses in his amazing collection.
Jim, Prescot and Wayne did a great job once again and I’m already looking forward to the 2011 edition.
