Porsche Penske Motorsport continued its dominant run in the 2025 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship with a dramatic one-two finish at Laguna Seca. The No. 6 Porsche 963, driven by Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet, clinched their first victory of the season, narrowly edging out teammates Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy in the No. 7 car by less than two seconds .
The race unfolded under clear Californian skies and was notable for its uninterrupted flow—no caution periods disrupted the action, a rarity in IMSA events. At the start, the two Porsche 963s settled into second and third positions, with Nasr quickly overtaking Campbell to challenge the leading BMW. An early incident forced the No. 6 car to pit for repairs, but the team recovered swiftly.

As the race progressed, strategic pit stops and driver changes saw the Porsche teammates battling at the front. In the final laps, a fierce three-way duel ensued between the two Porsches and the No. 24 BMW. The climax came on the last lap when the BMW, attempting an overtake, went off-track after contact with a GT car, allowing the Porsche duo to secure the top two spots.
In the GTD-Pro class, Porsche also celebrated success with Klaus Bachler and Laurin Heinrich achieving their second win of the season in the 911 GT3 R.
This victory reinforces Porsche Penske Motorsport’s strong position in the championship, with the No. 7 car maintaining its lead after previous wins at Daytona, Sebring, and Long Beach. The team’s consistent performance highlights Porsche’s engineering excellence and strategic prowess on the track.
