RM Sotheby’s kicks off its 2018 European calendar in spectacular fashion with a return to Paris, 7 February, for its fifth annual sale during the world-famous Rétromobile show week.
The rarest bird in the RM Sotheby’s auction when it comes to Porsches is definitely the 1998 Porsche 91 Carrera S Cabriolet. It is believed to be the only 993-generation 911 S Cabriolet built at Zuffenhausen. The car was a special order through Porsche exclusive and only has 16.200 km from new with just one registered owner. I believe there will be some great interest by collectors for this one.
In 1975, 484 Porsche 911 Carrera Jubiläum were built. Only 25 of them left the factory with the desirable 2.7 Carrera MFI engine. Add a superb restoration and just 600 kms driven since the restoration to the rarity of the car, and you won’t be surprised about the estimate range of €250.000 – €350.000
One of the Porsche race car that is in the RM Sotheby’s auction is a 2005 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR. The car was originaly develiverd to the Estoril Racing Team. It was driven by Michel and Claude Monteiro in the prestigious GT FFSA French Championship between 2005 and 2008. Just 37 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR were ever built. The engine of this car was recently rebuilt.
The other race car is a 1970 Porsche 914/6 GT. Delivered new to Friedrich Graepel of Loningen on 4 March 1971, preparation for this particular 914/6 – including upgrading to GT specification – was entrusted to respected Porsche team Autohaus Max Moritz. This Porsche 914/6 GT has an extensive rally history in Germany between 1971 and 1975, with a victory in the GT Class in the 1972 Stuttgart-Strasbourg-Stuttgart Rally. A full restoration by a renowned specialist was completed in 2017.
