Singer Vehicle Design Partners with Historic Motoring Ventures to serve Malaysia & Singapore

Historic Motoring Ventures today announced a partnership with California-based Singer Vehicle Design that will make Singer’s bespoke restoration services available to Malaysian & Singaporean Porsche 911 enthusiasts. Globally renowned for blending the brand’s unique perspective and meticulous craftsmanship with client inspiration, Singer Vehicle Design’s modification process has become regarded as the ‘best of the best’ for Porsche 911s to be ‘Restored, Reimagined and Reborn.

Singer Vehicle Design was founded in 2009 by Rob Dickinson – a former sports car designer who then became a rock musician, and now stands as one of the world’s foremost distillers of the essence of air cooled Porsches.

As a child, Dickinson rode in the back seat of his father’s India Red VW Beetle hammering along a French auto route – it was the first time he saw the car that would be the standard-bearer for air-cooled performance, the Porsche 911. In 2009 an orange 911 restored by Singer was shown at the Baja Cantina during the annual Monterey Car Week. By 2013 cars had appeared on BBC’s Top Gear; with known automotive experts Jay Leno and Chris Harris; and in EVO Magazine.

During 2015, Singer had displayed its first customer-owned and modified Targa commission on the Cartier Style et Lux Concours d’ Elegance at Goodwood Festival of Speed; on the lawn at the prestigious Quail – A Motorsports Gathering in Carmel, Calif.; and at Salon Prive on the grounds of the UK’s Blenheim Palace.

Singer’s vision involves taking a customer’s existing Porsche 911 and performing restorative work, combined with cutting–edge updates to enhance the cars’ performance, aesthetics and modern day use-ability in an attempt to optimise its strengths, while preserving the essence and magic of the original.

The Singer brand is a celebration of Porsche’s genius and each restoration begins with a customer’s car and repatriates the 911 chassis of the early ‘90’s with the most beautiful Ferdinand “Butzi” Porsche coachwork from 1964. The goal is to preserve a moment in time for the owner and capture a snapshot of the air-cooled period of the Porsche 911. A work of pure craftsmanship in true collaboration with clients, the final restoration takes more than 4,000 hours to complete.

Singer’s philosophy – blending tradition with modernity to re-create bespoke, one-of-a-kind masterpieces to each customer’s desires within perfectly optimised air-cooled Porsche 911s – continues to move forward with each new bespoke order. With limited availability and an 8-10 month restoration cycle, vehicles have been
commissioned by Porsche owners in Mexico, Hong Kong, Indonesia, France, Russia, Canada, England, Germany, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, South Korea, Norway and the UK.

“Our company’s heritage is based on utilizing the ultimate in automotive design, engineering and industry standards to meet and exceed the vision of our fine clientele,” said Rob Dickinson, creator and founder of Singer. “Our partnering with Historic Motoring Ventures will extend our passion to Malaysia and Singapore so that we can share our love for the 911 with collectors in the region, while taking our unique celebration of Porsche to a whole new level.”

As the territorial partner for Singer Vehicle Design, Historic Motoring Ventures can assist customers in locating a donor Porsche 911, specifying their unique creation, and liaise with Singer’s designers and craftsmen in California throughout the restoration and re-imagination process.
