The Porsche Classic Coast Tour is probably the largest annual event in the Benelux with just classic Porsches. The event is in celebrated its 5th-anniversary last month. The event has 2 elements. The first is a tour through scenic roads, starting and finishing in De Haan at the Belgian Coast. The second parts of the event is a concours d’Elegance.
The Porsche Classic Coast Tour
The number of cars that can take place on the tour is limited to 80. That excludes 10 cars from sponsors and guests. The Porsche Coast Classic Tour has an animated start which is particularly enjoyed by the participants and the many spectators. Every 30 seconds, in true race style, we give a car the green light to start the tour ride.
The road book navigated the participants via selected polder roads to the Abbey of Sint-Idesbald, where according to Belgian tradition a beer is brewed in different flavors that could be tasted on the spot. This was complemented by a traditional Breugel buffet for lunch. The arrangement of the participating Porsches within the abbey walls was impressive. The way back to De Haan was via polder roads, and on the way some small and lesser known polder villages were visited.
The Concours d’Elegance
The Concours d’Elegance took place for the 3rd time. After strict selection we had participants in all 4 categories ( -1965 / 1965-1973 / 1974 – 1989 / 1990 – 1992 ).
The cars were all of particularly high quality. A number of selected Porsches lined up in each category. Johan Dirickx from 911Motorsport and Gaby Callewaert, 2 renowned Porsche 911 RS specialists were the jury members. There were some special cars entered such as a 911 Turbo S Leichtbau from 1992 and a 911 S Soft Window Targa from 1967.
