The results of the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale

1973 Porsche 911 RS Lightweight

Market is cooling down

After many years it seems the market for the classic Porsches is cooling down. The results of auctions at the Paris Retromobile and Scottsdale were slighly indicative. The results at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale show the direction of the prices furthermore. But this doesn’t mean you can add a good car to your collection cheap. I just mean the times that prices seemed to know no limits is over.. at least for now. Who knows what the future will bring.

From the 18 Porsches that came up for sale at the Bonhams Goodwood Festival of Speed Sale, no less than 8 didn’t change hands and remained unsold. No surprise to me when it comes to the 2 replicas that were offered by Bonhams. The 1967 Porsche 911S  Sunroof Coupe however was a car that I thought would definitely change hands. I even thought this car would change hands for a rather good price, as the early Porsche 911S remains a highly wanted car.

The cars that did sell, all remained on the lower side of the estimation. The Porsche 356 Carrera Speedster didn’t reach the 1 million Euro mark. This would definitely have been when this car was sold like 2 years ago. The 2010 Porsche 911 GT2 RS sold for 324.110. A good price. Funny to know is that this very day, Porsche presented the new Porsche 911 GT2 RS at the Festival of Speed.
