No less than 15 Porsches crossed the block in the RM Sotheby’s Open Roads February Auction. The RM Sotheby’s Open Roads auction Open was a globally sourced time-based online sale set to open for bidding February 19th. Bidding closed February 28th. That meant potential buyers had a time-slot of approximately 10 days to bid on the cars. Needles to say that is a completely different auction experience. And that probably influences prices too. Emotional bids probably occur less because of the larger time-slot one can bid. Future will learn us how the pandemic will influence the auction results on the long term. Short term, we only notice the true exceptional cars are very rare on auctions nowadays.
No exceptional prices for any f the Porsches that came up for auction in the RM Sotheby’s Open Roads February Auction. RM Sotheby’s published the results of the auction not in a single currency. But let’s make it easy for ourself, and consider an equal value for Euro, Swiss Francs and USD. The Porsche 911 R sold for a very conservatie CHF412.500 and the Porsche 918 Spyder just hist the 1 million Swiss Franc barrier. We guess these are fair prices, but definitely not the top-prices these car tend to sell for.
