Preview to the Zoute GP Weekend in Knokke
I presume there is no need to introduce the Zoute GP to you. However, in 2019, the Zoute GP celebrates its 10th anniversary. And an anniversary deserves a party. So you can imagine the 10th edition of the Zoute GP will be even a bigger party than it used to be the 9 previous editions. Let’s have a preview.
The Zoute GP is actually a weekend that the city of Knokke is converted into one big automotive show. Thursday on, it is a continuous coming and going of classic cars in the streets of Knokke. The reason is obvious. These are the cars that drive to or come from the technical scrutineering. Friday morning, you can see the same cars again at the start of the rally. Nobody knows where the roadbook will take the cars. Be assured it will be a fantastic ride. Same story on Saturday, when the same cars will make a great ride.
Friday evening, you can join the Bonhams Zoute GP auction. Next to some kids cars, approximately 45 cars will cross the block. You can read more about the auction in the preview we published sometime ago. During the weekend, the streets of Knokke are a showroom for modern sportscars too. Manufacturers like Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Porsche, Detomaso will bring at least one top model to the podium in the streets.
Sunday you can make a choice, depending on your preference. In case you are more into modern GTs, you’ll have to follow the Zoute GT Tour, a road-trip for the modern sportscars. In case you prefer classic cars, you could go visit the Zoute Concours d’Elegance at the Zoute Golf. The lawn will be filled with some of the most exclusive and rare classic cars. In contradiction with the previous editions, in 2019, the Concours d’Elegance will be both on Saturday and Sunday at the Zoute Golf. This year, former Porsche factory racer Thierry Boutsen will be a member of the jury at the Zoute Concours d’Elegance.
For a belgian Porsche fan, the highlight of the weekend might be on Saturday morning at the Zoute Golf. We told you before about the Porsche 911 Carrera 4S “Belgian Legend” edition. This limited model of 75 cars is built to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Jacky Ickx in 2020. The official presentation will be Saturday at the Zoute Golf. And of course Mr Le Mans “Jacky Ickx” will be there.
