Once again , the Gruga Halle in Essen Germany, was the center of the motorsport and tuning world. Despite a rather severe onset of winter, with snow and icy roads as a consequence, over 340.000 visitors found their way to the Essen Motorshow to visit the thousands of cars and hundreds of booths of the exhibitors. They all had one thing in common. Passion for cars, motorsport, speed and tuning. The number of visitors this year was slightly better as last year, which can be called a succes , seen the earlier mentioned winter circumstances, and the economic situation worldwide.
This year, the fair was an absolute must for the car and motorsport fans, with a large presentation of the DTM (Deutsche Touring Car Championship), the special show entitled “40 years of the World Sports Car Championship” and the celebration of “50 years of Porsche 911”. Just these 3 special presentations justified the presence of this many visitors. And ofcourse this was not all that could be seen. The fair is a unique opportunity for networking in the motorsports scene, and an exquisite platform to meet and talk to famous race-drivers from now and then.
Next to the special exhibit on 50 years Porsche, we Porsche aficionados could lay our hands on the long waited for book Porsche 917-021 by Jacques Breuer.Never before a book was written on one single car, and this book is an invaluable source of information for the 917 lovers.
We are looking forward to visit the show next year again. The 46th Essen Motorshow will take place from November 30th till December 8 2013.
