A shakedown, a compact race night on Friday and a full race day on Saturday. A truly interesting program, and that’s what makes the Omloop van Vlaanderen so interesting for both competitors and spectators. In it’s 63th edition the experiencewas even more intense with the shakedown movedfrom Wednesday to Thursday to make the race more compact. A highly appreciated move by the teams.. This makes the race more compact, which will without doubt be appreciated by the teams. The 63rd Omloop van Vlaanderen kicked off on Thursday 31/8.
Actually, the Omloop van Vlaanderen consists of 2 races : one for the modern cars, and a rally for historic cars up to 1990, which is named The Rock n Roll Classics. 37 participants from the Rock n Roll Classics joined the 66 rally teams during this 63rd edition. And Of course, the “classic” brands Ford, Opel, Porsche or Lancia could not be missed from an entry list 100% reserved for historic vehicles. In the actual Rally6 Porsches at the start, 5 of them 911 GT3s.
The battle for victory was very exciting for two days in the A&D Omloop van Vlaanderen.In total, the lead went 9 times to another driver on 20 special stages. Jos Verstappen, father of the F1 driver Max Verstappen, was one of the competitors in the rally, and even took the lead for a while in his Skoda Fabia. In the end result however Verstappen had to give in to the duo Reynvoet – Verbeke in a Citroen C3. Cracc- Vercruys defended the honors of Porsche best but could not finish better than on 11th overall.
