The day before Spa Classic comes alive

Spa Classic returns to the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit as of tomorrow. It brings together some of the most iconic racing cars ever built. With more than 400 historic machines expected across the weekend, the event has become one of Europe’s finest celebrations of motorsport heritage — and for Porsche fans, one of the highlights of the racing calendar. Unfortunately no Group C racing, which is a pity. But the more modern GT3 revival series can be seen as a strong replacement and will definitely attract younger car enthusiasts. We like to visit an event even the day before the action starts, and at the moment of leaving the circuit, the trucks with race cars were still arriving.

Porsche everywhere

Few manufacturers are represented across as many different eras as Porsche. From lightweight 1960s GT cars to brutal turbocharged endurance monsters and modern GT3 machinery, Spa Classic 2026 will showcase the full evolution of Porsche racing history on one circuit.

Whether parked in the paddock or charging through Eau Rouge, Stuttgart’s finest will be impossible to miss throughout the weekend.

Early Porsche legends

One of the most exciting grids for Porsche enthusiasts will be the Sixties’ Endurance category. The entry list already features several early Porsche 911 2.0 models alongside multiple Porsche 904 Carrera GTS entries.

These cars represent the foundations of Porsche’s endurance racing success. The 904, introduced in 1964, combined lightweight construction with remarkable balance and efficiency, while the early 911 quickly proved itself as a reliable and competitive GT racer.

At Spa, these cars look perfectly at home. Their agility through fast corners such as Pouhon and Blanchimont remains every bit as impressive today as it was sixty years ago.

The Turbo Era

Classic Endurance Racing traditionally delivers some of the loudest and most dramatic moments of the weekend, and Porsche is often at the center of the action.

Cars such as the Porsche 917 and Porsche 935 embody the wild side of endurance racing history. The 917’s legendary flat-12 soundtrack still sends chills through the Ardennes, while the turbocharged 935 remains one of the most aggressive silhouettes ever seen in motorsport. Unfortunately, we couldn’t spot the Porsche 917 that is on the entry list. But as mentioned previously, cars were still arriving the moment we left, so we’re not telling the car won’t show up, as we just don’t know.

Watching these machines attack Spa’s high-speed layout is a reminder of just how fearless both drivers and engineers once were.

GT3 Modern Classics

The newer generation of Porsche race cars will also be strongly represented in the GT3 Revival Series. Several Porsche 997 GT3 R entries are expected, bringing the sound of naturally aspirated flat-six engines back to Spa.

Even among rivals from Ferrari, Audi, and Aston Martin, the 997 GT3 R remains a crowd favorite. Its combination of balance, precision and unmistakable sound perfectly reflects Porsche’s racing philosophy.

Unlike many modern GT cars, the 997 still feels wonderfully mechanical and raw — qualities that make it especially spectacular around a demanding circuit like Spa.

More than racing

Part of what makes Spa Classic so special is the atmosphere. Fans can walk through an open paddock, stand close to legendary machinery and experience historic racing in a far more intimate way than modern championships allow.

The setting only adds to the magic. Spa-Francorchamps remains one of the world’s greatest circuits, with its fast flowing corners and dramatic elevation changes providing the perfect stage for historic racing cars.

A Porsche celebration

For Porsche enthusiasts, Spa Classic 2026 is far more than a historic race meeting. It is a celebration of the marque’s complete motorsport journey — from elegant early 904s and classic air-cooled 911s to turbocharged endurance icons and modern GT3 racers.

Few events capture the spirit of Porsche competition so completely, and few circuits suit these cars better than Spa.
