Harold Schwarz , the author of this work, has been following motorsport since over 40 years, so he knows what he’s talking about. He is the co-author of 2 great books on Porsche, “Porsche 917, die Helden, die Siegen, der Mythos” and “Porsche 908, Seriensieger, Spezialist und Dauerlaufer”. Recently the German publisher Petrolpics published a new book of this author : “Gruppe 5, Die Silhouetteformel 1976 – 1981”.

Probably everyone intrested in motorsports, remembers the fascinating era of the 70s and 80s. Even in case you weren’t even born or just a little kid, you should know about these years. Gruppe 5 is still remembered as a racing formula where the worldwide racing elite fought for victories and championship titles, in extremely bodied cars, someties powered by engines up to 800 horsepower, and throwing out extreme flames while racing.

And ofcourse Porsche plays a great role in this chapter of motorsports.. so beside the BMWs , Lancia and Toyotas there is realy an overwhelming lot of information about our favorite Stuttgart car manufacturer .. like the Porsche 935, Porsche 935/77, Porsche 935/78,the Kremer Porsche 935s (K2 and K3), the Gelo Porsches, the Zakspeed Porsches.

Those that are familiar with books published by Petrolpics know there are lots of great pictures in the book too, the overal majority never published before.
