Biography Jack W. Heuer

Jack W. Heuer is a Swiss watch entrepreneur,  and  the great-grandson of Edouard Heuer, founder of the watch company Heuer. He determined the fate of the company since the 1960s and was largely responsible for the development of legendary sports watch classics such as the model Carrera.  There has always been a strong connection between the Heuer company, and motorsports. Heuer had important sponsorships contracts with race tracks, race series and pilots. Some of the Heuer models worn by pilots like Jo Siffert, Jochen Rindt and Steve McQueen have become true collector’s items. Original period watches are worth thousands of Euro’s.

On June 26, 1982, the quartz crisis demanded its tribute: In a bitter decision Jack W. Heuer was forced to sell the family company.

In 2001 Jack W. Heuer was appointed Honorary President of the brand TAG Heuer and also received a position as a consultant. Due to his life’s work, on February 2, 2007 he was awarded the “Gem Award” by the JIC (Jewelry Information Center).

He now (early 2008) lives in Bern (Switzerland) and continues to support actively the company at its current projects.
