With our home base in Belgium, just about a 1.5-hour drive from the Spa-Francorchamps track, a no-show to Spa Classic was no option. Regular visitors of the website know we like to be on the track even before the real action takes place. As you could see in our short report on the day before the action started, it all looked promising. And obviously, it only became better, when the cars went on the track. 3 days of sheer classic race fun was our part. And ooh boy, the absentees were wrong once again. Let’s have a look back at Spa Classic, this year in its 11th edition yet.

More than 22 000 enthusiasts made to trip to the Belgian Ardennes to enjoy the 9 race grids on the track. All start grids combined counted over 400 historical race cars. The total number of cars that actually made it to the track exceeded that number by far, with hundreds of participants in the club sessions. In the paddocks, visitors could enjoy a festive atmosphere in the village with some animations, and the possibility to do some shopping.

Weather conditions during the weekend were, as one can expect in Francorchamps, quite volatile. From a sparkling sun to soaking rain, the weekend had it all. And that’s what makes racing at Spa an adventure, and that’s what the drivers had to cope with. For many of the drivers, Spa Classic was one of the last opportunities to prepare for Le Mans, next to the Dijon GP de l’Age d’Or by Peter Auto start of June.
