Nowadays, headlines in journals ofter are reserved for ecological issues and global warming news. And one could thank that all this affects the passion for classic cars and retro racing.  The latest edition of Flanders Collection Cars in Ghent (Belgium) proved the contrary. The 33rd edition of the classic salon in Ghent welcomed an absolute record number of 10,163 visitors. The variety on offer from the 153 exhibitors and some special motorsport eye-catchers were most appreciated by visitors.

Miniatures and collectibles

The oldtimer fair has become one of the leading oldtimer fairs in Belgium. Moreover, visitors are also increasingly coming from surrounding countries such as the Netherlands and France. Special attention was paid to the off-road theme. Feryn Dakar Sport presented their Dakar Rally bivouac set-up in the presence of Pascal Feryn and Koen Wauters.

In addition, the organizers also highlighted Porsche’s rally past. For instance, the Rothmans Porsche 911 that Tom Boonen recently drove in the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne was on display. The big crowd pullers, however, were 2 Porsche 911 SC RS racing cars from the JFD Collection. Only 20 of these unique models were produced.

By the way, many visitors enjoyed the wide range of oldtimers, young timers and car memorabilia. A record number of oldtimers found a new owner at the fair. The next edition of classic salon Flanders Collection Cars Ghent will take place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 February 2024 at Flanders Expo.
