Biography Paul Hensler
Born on 16 January 1929 in Freiburg, Paul Hensler studied Mechanical Engineering in Karlsruhe . In October 1958, Paul Hensler started his career at Porsche. He started working in the Porsche design department. Paul Hensler worked on the development of the Porsche diesel tractor. The head of the design department at that time was Karl Rabe, who’s name will sound familiar as a long term Porsche employee and designer of the Porsche 356 among others.
In 1963, Paul Hensler switched from the Porsche Design department to the the passenger car engine testing . He has not only pioneered the turbocharging of petrol engines. Paul Hensler also acquired special merits in the field of exhaust emission . As chief engineerPaul Hensler was also responsible for many years for the development of the six-cylinder boxer engine of the Porsche 911.
In parallel, Paul Hensler led the development of new engine concepts for the Porsche model series Porsche 928 and Porsche 944,
Even after his retirement in 1994, Paul Hensler was still in close contact with Porsche. In many events of the Porsche Museum and the Porsche -Diesel- Club, he has always been a particularly valued guest .
