Porsche Penske Motorsport put on another masterclass at the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, securing a spectacular 1-2 finish at the iconic Long Beach street circuit. In the third race of the season, the No. 7 Porsche 963 driven by Felipe Nasr and Nick Tandy took the win, closely followed by teammates Matt Campbell and Mathieu Jaminet in the No. 6 car.

It’s the third straight win this year for Nasr and Tandy, who have already conquered Daytona and Sebring. Porsche’s dominance was clear on the tight, demanding 100-minute sprint through the California streets, where smart strategy and flawless pit stops made all the difference.
“What a banner day for Porsche!” said Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President of Motorsport. “First, victory in Formula E in Miami, and now another IMSA 1-2. I’m incredibly proud of everyone involved, from our drivers to the team at Weissach.”
The decisive moment came during an early safety car phase. Porsche’s crew executed rapid pit stops, propelling both 963s into the lead — a position they held all the way to the checkered flag. The result gives Porsche a commanding lead in the manufacturers’ standings, now over 100 points ahead.
In the GTD class, AO Racing’s fan-favorite “Rexy” — the green dinosaur-liveried Porsche 911 GT3 R — brought more smiles by grabbing the class win. Factory driver Laurens Vanthoor and Jonny Edgar kept the momentum rolling with a flawless drive.

However, not everything went perfectly across the Porsche camp. JDC-Miller MotorSports’ No. 85 Porsche 963 suffered a setback after an incident while lapping a slower GT car, ultimately finishing tenth.
Driver Reactions:
- Felipe Nasr (No. 7 Porsche 963): “Three races, three wins! The team did an outstanding job. Strategy and tire management were key today — it all came together perfectly.”
- Nick Tandy (No. 7 Porsche 963): “Winning never gets old! Strategy, perfect pit stops, and smart driving got us here. This start to the season feels amazing.”
- Matt Campbell (No. 6 Porsche 963): “Another 1-2 for the team! Even though we just missed out on the win, it’s another huge step forward in the championship.”
Looking ahead, Porsche now turns its sights to round four at Laguna Seca on May 11, hoping to keep this stunning momentum alive.
