First major international collector car auction in the Middle East
RM Sotheby’s and Formula One are partnering. This unique partnership gives the opportunity to F1 fans and collector car enthusiast to acquire a piece of automotive history. The audience this auction is aimed for is definitely not the collectors of classic cars. Next to a 1951 Chevrolet Coupe Custom, the only car that belongs to the classic cars is a 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Touring.

This car was used by its first owner before it was sold to a collector who put the car in dry storage with just under 60K kilometres on the counter. That same owner had a complete restoration done on the car. The original engine stayed with the car, but the displacement was enlarged to 2.8. Later the car moved to the USA where it changed hands a few times. The car was subject to another concours restoration. At a sudden time, the car was auctioned in Texas and bought by Bruce Canepa, who sold it to the current owner. This Carrera RS 2.7’s original manuals, a complete tool roll, a folio of restoration photographs, previous registrations, repair invoices, and Porsche Certificate of Authenticity are included. We are definitely curious about the hammer price for this car.
A rare bird that comes up for sale is the 1993 Porsche 911 Carrera RSR. With only 55 cars ever produced, this car belongs to the most desirable of the 964 series. The complete history of the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.8 is told in the faintestic book by Robert Weber and Jurgen Barth. This RSR 3.8 is believed to have then passed to a Japanese collector before returning to Germany, where Freisinger Motorsport gave it a complete cosmetic restoration and mechanical refreshing that included a bare-metal respray, a full transaxle overhaul, and a suspension and brake rebuild.
