It is that time of the year again. The eyes of all petrolhears are directe towards Scottsdale Arizona, where the auction season of 2018 takes off. Friday January 18th, the RM Sotheb’s Auction in Scottsdale has quite some Porsche’s in the catalogue too. We must admit RM Sotheby’s has had more spectacular auctions before. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be some excitement when the auctioneer starts the auction. There are some great Porsche’s among the cars that will go under the hammer
End June 2017, Porsche presented a brandnew version of the Porsche 911 GT2 RS at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. With the optional “Weissach” package, another 30kg could be saved from the lightweight Porsche. In Scottsdale, RM Sotheby offers a 2018 Porsche 911 GT2 RS “Weissach” for sale. Chassis WP0AE2A95JS185392 has only 55 miles on the counter. Needless to say this car is flawless and pristine. We believe there will be a vivid bidding on this one.
At the 2015 Porsche Rennsport Reunion V, a limited-production model of the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS was presented to the public. Only 25 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Rennsport Reunion Editions were built. RM Sotheby’s offers one for sale now in the Scottsdale Auction. The car with chassis WP0AB2A9XGS123388 was delivered originally to Florida and has been garage-kept and preserved in as-new condition. The carhas less than 50 original miles on the counter. It is believed to be the lowest mileage example in existence. Important, but no surprise with a low-mileage car as this, it comes with all its delivery paperwork, original window sticker, and original owners’ manuals. A great opportunity for limited-model collectors to acquire one.
Another limited edition that will come on the block at the RM Sotheby’s auction in Scottsdale is a 2010 Porsche 911 Sport Classic. This model came in the news because of the duck-tail, to remember the 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS. And more recently because the Scottish Russel Shand drove through Europe in his personal Porsche 911 Sport Classic . Just 250 cars left the factory, and chassis WP0ZZZ99ZAS794067 is the 002/250. Just as the previous mentioned cars, this one has very low mileage. Only 150 miles are registered on the counter, making it another car in virtually new condition. We predict there will be some interest in this car too.
Only 500 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive were built, 200 of them made it to the USA. Chassis WP0AD2A9XJS156764, serial number 422/500, comes up for auction at the RM Sotheby’s auction in Scottsdale. With only 51 original miles, this car has hardly been driven. No need to say it is pristine and flawless. The special Golden Yellow Metallic finish is echoed inside with contrasting stitching between the leather panels covering the 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series’ seats, door panels, and dashboard. Black center-locking wheels with gold accents and a dark finish for the dual exhaust pipes poking out of the Turbo Aerokit rear bumper complete the look. As noted on the build sheet, additional options include adaptive cruise control, lane change assist, as well as the front axle lift system. The car was delivered through Porsche Plano in suburban Dallas to its first owner in New Mexico in May 2018.
Al lthe Porsche 911’s with the RS logo on the back are cars that are wanted by enthusiasts. Some of them have been sold for amazing prices the last years. However, th the last few auctions, it became clear that bidders no longer wanted to pay insane prices for cars that not fullfil all expectations. Remember the 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS that remained unsold after a high bid of $530.000 at the RM Sotheby’s Porsche 70th anniversary auction in Atlanta ? We’re convinced that a similar 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS (chassis WP0ZZZ96ZNS490645) now offered by RM Sotheby’s in Scottsdale, will change hands at that bidding price.. We wonder how much the final hammer price will be.
The RM Sotheby’s Auction takes place January 17 – 18 at the Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa in Phoenix.
