1956 Porsche 550 RS Spyder by Wendler

Ex Ecurie National Belge Porsche 550 Spyder

When a Porsche 550 Spyder comes up for sale at an auction, you won’t be surprised the eyes of the international classic car collectors world are all directed towards that auction. And this will be the case in a few days in Paris, at the RM Sotheby’s auction.  Porsche 550 Spyder (chassis 550-0082) is the ninth from last 550 Spyder produced

and comes with extensive race history. This particular car was part of the Ecurie National Belge with amateur drivers like Claude Dubois, Christian Goethals and the celebrated female driver Gilberte Thirion at the wheel. In 1957 this car was at the start of the Le Mans 24H. That makes it one of only 10 Porsche 550 Spyders to ever have competed at the most iconic endurance race in the world. Unfortunately, the car disqualified after pitting to add oil. Later the car was sold to Jacques Thenaers, another Belgian amateur racer. For the new owner, we have lots of original pictures and paperwork of the ex Jacques Thenaers Porsche 550-0082 in our collection.

1964 Porsche 911

In 1964 only 232 Porsche 911’s have been produced. That makes a 1964 Porsche 911 extremely desirable in the early Porsche 911 collector’s world. Add the knowledge that this is the 4th Porsche 911 to bear the ‘911’ nomenclature, and it will become even more wanted. And of course, that’s what the estimation price fork predicts too. A hefty €600,000 – €800,000 is the prognosis. Hard to tell what the final result will be. But we know a 1964 Porsche 911 is a car any serious Porsche 911 collector would want in the collection. So we believe this car might even fetch a higher price, even in a market with Brexit uncertainties and a clear downtrend.
