Highly sought after Porsches and Volkswagens
Late John Dixon had a love affair with Porsche. While he was driving an American muscle car, he was passed by a Porsche 911. That sort of triggered John Dixon to go find a car like that. Just a few months later he purchased his first Porsche 911. The rest is history. In the 1990s his collection started growing, and John Dixon bought several highly collectible Porsche’s. Highlights in the collection are without any doubt the Porsche 356 Carrera GT Speedster, and the 1952 Porsche 356 pre-A Gläser Cabriolet. John Dixon wasn’t afraid to bring something special either. I remember the first time I saw the Porsche 356 Limousin and the Porsche 356 Sedan Delivery, powered by a 4-cam Carrera Engine at the Porsche 356 Speedster 50th anniversary meeting. In 2013, John Dixon lost the battle against cancer. September 28, 2019, RM Sotheby’s will be auctioning the complete collection of over 30 Porsche’s and Volkswagens and approximately 350 lots of memorabilia.
John opened the Taj Ma Garaj Collection to thousands of visitors over the years. He was proud to share his passion with fellow enthusiasts. John Dixon used to host charity car shows frequently. On top of that, he offered the collection site as an event facility. John Dixon was as knowledgeable about his cars as he was passionate. Among the cars that will cross the block are both low-mileage cars, as pure fun cars. All cars are offered without reserve. The auction will take place in Dayton, OH.
