The Petersen Automotive Museum Auction last saturday featured some y 50–60 blue-chip automobiles, hand-selected by RM Sotheby’s global team of car Specialists. Among these cars were 9 Porsche’s of which 2 remained unsold.
The1987 Porsche 959 Komfort was one of just a few Porsche 959’s that were federalised and licended for street use in California. The car’s management system and control computer all remained original and were not converted to the later Motec System. The last decade, the owner was Wayne Dempsey of Pelican Parts. None of these could convince a potential buyer to make a bid higher than the reserve. So the car remained unsold with a highest bid of $870.000 .

Only 142 Porsche 911 GT2 RS of the model type 997 were imported in the USA. In the RM Sotheby’s Petersen Automotive Museum, a well-equipped one of these 142 came up for sale. The car is essenstially in new condition and has only 5,350 miles on the counter. One would think a car like this would definitely find a new home. However the highest bid of $370.000 remained under the estimate and the car didn’t change hands
