We’re approaching the holiday season real fast. We all want to leave 2020 behind as as soon as possible for obvious reasons. The pandemic outbreak ruined our complete year. Some of us were contaminated with the virus but are lucky enough to survive it. Many of us lost someone in the family or friends. We were not able to visit shows and races the way we wanted. 2020 is a year we all want to forget as soon as possible. And probably a good way to do that, is to end the year with a positive note. And I’m sure these gift ideas will put a big smile of the face of any Porsche fan.
Calendars
What is a better to way to start 2021 as with replacing the 2020 calendar with a new one. There are hundreds of calendars you could choose. In a previous article, we told you about the selection of calendars that could spice up your wall next year. Go take a look, you won’t be disappointed.
Books
Every Porsche fan welcomes a good book. Every year dozens of books find their way to the shops. And even though some of the books in our selection above may not be published this year, there is no way they aren’t worth giving. Recently we told you about Karl Ludvigsen’s masterwork Porsche : Excellence was expected. Even though it might be too expensive for a gift, still think about it as this is absolutely the Porsche bible a Porsche fan wants on his bookshelves. In the same price-range, you could try ‘The Works Porsche 956 – the definitive history’ by Serge van Bockryck.
This 2 volume book tells you the complete history of every single Works Porsche 956. For sure, this book will make fans of endurance racing happy. And don’t forget to use the 10% discount code LFP10 at Porter Press International. For the Porsche 356 fan, or the Porsche sales literature collector, we strongly recommend the ‘356 Sales literature book’, publish by the Porsche Classic Center Gelderland.
Ofcourse you won’t need to dig too deep in your pocket for all interesting books. Recently Berlin Motor Books has been quite active and published books about the Porsche 911 G-model and the Porsche Speedster. We haven’t been able to review the 911 G-model book, but we can recommend you the Porsche Speedster Legends book. There is a ‘signature edition’ of the ‘Porsche 993 25 years’ book available at Berlin Motor Books too.
Another publication by Porter Press International is ‘the ROFGO Collection’. This book tells the complete history of a collection that is inspired by the ‘Gulf’-themed race-cars. There is more than Porsche in this books, and definitely a great addition to the library of a motorsports fan. And ofcourse, what would the holiday season be without some great food. And maybe, the recipes in ‘Schnell mal Essen – Racing & Recipes’ might bring you some ideas. A Porsche inspired cook-book, with recipes by Le Mans Winner Jürgen Barth : you’ll have the most original gift that’s for sure. Ofcourse there are far more books, as you can see on our book-review page.
Memorabilia
Recently, bidders fought a fierce battle to acquire an original Porsche enamel crest. These original signs sell for big bucks. But now there is a solution. Those that don’t want to spend that kind of money, or those that are not that puristic to be only pleased with an original period crest can get this brandnew Porsche enamel crest. The crest is an official Porsche part, with its own Porsche Part number. It comes in a great historical looking package, including Porsche lead seal and description. With dimensions of approx. 46 x 35 cm, this re-edition of the 1960 enamel crest will fit any wall. Next to your local Porsche dealer, a good source for this crest (and more interesting items) is the Erlkoenig Classic Webshop.
Toys
Many Porsche fans collect Porsche miniatures too. And again, the selection is endless. But we would like to bring some rarities to your attention. The renowned Belgian company 911Motorsport has 2 of them. First there is the ‘Model Porsche 911T’. The model shows an exact copy of the Porsche 911T that was painted live at the opening of ‘the 70 years of Porsche’ exhibition at the Autoworld Museum in Brussels. The other is a set of a 1967 Porsche 911R and a 2016 Porsche 911R at the banking of the Monza race track. ‘Monza Record Run Revisited’ is the result of a road-trip by 911Motorsport with both cars to the track where the history of the Porsche 911R began. Both of the miniature sets are limited edition and few are available. So hurry up to the 911Motorsport webshop to secure yours.
